The remains of José Rafael Oando, known as Saul Millones, were veiled and buried this Sunday in the midst of an environment of great sadness.
Oando, a 24-year-old, died in the United States after having undergone several aesthetic surgeries that, according to his family, were intended to improve his appearance.
The family members have reported that their death was the result of alleged medical malpractice. They note that the responsible surgeon, of Dominican nationality, would have fled to the country after the tragic event.
However, to date, the authorities have not publicly identified the doctor involved or made official statements on the case.
Oando, who was a dancer, was described by those who knew him as a happy and dream-filled person, with a life projected in New York.
According to his relatives, the surgeries he underwent, apparently to project a female identity, were determining factors in his death.
