Videos in which Isaac de Jesús Fernández Reyes, alias “Cucito,” appears showing different firearms have drawn attention after his death during a police operation conducted Friday night in the Cuesta Colorada sector of Santiago.
The 22-year-old was killed by multiple gunshot wounds during a raid by police officers on Imbert Avenue in that sector, Cuesta Colorada in this city, where, according to the authorities' report, there was a confrontation.
Corporal Rafael Gómez de la Cruz, a member of the SWAT unit of the National Police, was also injured during the incident.
According to the institution of the order, Fernández Reyes was actively sought and, as he was purified in the criminal consultation system, he had five records related to alleged acts of theft and murder, as well as an impediment to leaving the country and other judicial matters.
The recordings showing different firearms take on particular interest in the context of the investigations. However, it has not been established publicly so far whether the weapons displayed in these audiovisual are linked to specific criminal acts or are in line with evidence taken by the authorities.
The case raises questions about the origin of the weapons on the videos and their possible relationship to the investigations that weighed on the young man.
The National Police are expected to provide more details on the circumstances of the operation, the evidence collected and the results of the investigations.
