With sadness and dismay, neighbors of Yissel Yereni Castillo Santana lamented the death of the 37-year-old girl, who was attacked in her home, located in the Los Mina sector, allegedly by her former sentimental partner, Ángel Paniagua.
Yissel lived with his three minor children on the 11th Street of Hermanas Villas, where she was surprised by a blunt blow to the head that caused her death.
According to information on the case, the alleged assailant also attacked two of the woman's children, who were beaten to the head and had to be transferred to a health centre.
The news has caused sadness among community residents, who regretted that the young woman lost her life in these circumstances and that her children were also affected by the aggression.
According to media reports, the relationship between Yissel and Paniagua had ended about a month before the event. The woman's decision not to continue the relationship would have been one of the background to the event, although the circumstances continue under investigation.
In the case, Ángel Paniagua was arrested and, according to news reports, he was imposed three months & apos; pre-trial detention as a measure of coercion while the judicial process is proceeding.
The remains of Yissel were buried on Saturday, after being veiled at Gresefu funeral home, located on Francisco del Rosario Sánchez Avenue, known as the 17, where family and relatives gathered to give him the last goodbye.
His death left three children without their mother and once again put on the table the concern about violence against women and the consequences that such acts left for their families.
