The Provincial Health Directorate (DPS) of Monsignor Nouel reaffirmed its commitment to the promotion of emotional well-being and the prevention of mental health problems, as World Mental Health Day was celebrated on October 10.
The institution, led by Dr. José Baez, stressed the importance of promoting education and awareness to ensure that the population understands that mental health is an essential part of individual and collective well-being.
In that regard, he noted that speaking openly on this issue contributes to preventing difficulties, facilitating access to timely aid and promoting a more conscious and supportive society.
The DPS also highlighted the need to combat myths, prejudices and stigmas that for years have made it difficult for many people to seek professional guidance or express their emotional problems.
The entity also stressed that the construction of healthier communities requires responsible information, active listening, empathy and accompaniment, in order to create spaces where people can talk about their emotional well-being without fear of being judged.
Under Baez's leadership, the institution reiterated that it will continue to promote prevention and awareness-raising initiatives to strengthen the recognition of mental health as an indispensable component of public health.
“When we stop stigmatizing and begin to understand, we also start to care better,” the DPS said in its message on the occasion of this date, in which it called on the public to listen, understand and support those who go through situations that affect their emotional well-being.
