The Member of Parliament Carmen Williams referred to the opportunities for tourism and economic growth in Samaná, at a time when the province is preparing to expand its offer with the arrival of cruises and the development of new port infrastructure.
Williams spoke during the 11th Annual Meeting for the Tourism Development of Samaná, held on Thursday in Puerto Bahia, where representatives of the public and private sectors discussed the prospects of cruise tourism and its impact on the local economy.
“We continue to work to make Samana the dream destination. We have a president committed to Samaná and to the development of our province,” said the legislator.
One of the issues of interest to the sector is the next opening of Port Samaná, in the municipal district of Arroyo Barril, an infrastructure that seeks to increase the arrival of cruises and generate greater movement in commercial and tourist activities.
The expansion of this segment poses the challenge of ensuring that tourism growth is also reflected in jobs, investments and opportunities for traders, entrepreneurs and communities in the province.
The meeting was organized by the Samaná Tourist Cluster and the Samaná Tourist Hotels and Business Association (AHETSA), with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, under the motto “Samaná, sailing towards a new era.”.
During the day, participants addressed strategies to improve the competitiveness of the destination, improve the quality of services and promote sustainable growth to preserve the province's natural and cultural resources.
