The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, expressed his condolences on Sunday on the death of Yamilé Scheker, whom he recognized for his contributions to Dominican culture and his influence on the new generations of actors.
Through a message published in his X-account, the president highlighted Scheker's trajectory and his legacy in the national art, especially among young interpreters who found inspiration in his work.
Abinader regretted the loss of the artist and noted that her departure represents the absence of an important figure for the culture of the country. However, he said that his influence will remain in those who received his inspiration and in the public who valued his work.
“With the death of Yamilé Scheker today, an important light of our culture is turned off, but his legacy remains in every young actor he inspired and in every applause he collected,” the president wrote.
The message of the head of State highlights Scheker's impact on Dominican artistic development and adds to the expressions of regret for his death.
