José Agustín Piña, known as “Boboli,” died while receiving medical assistance at the Hospital Vasto Calventi, after being shot and wounded during an incident with the National Police in the Las Caobas sector in Manoguayabo.
The event occurred on La Double Via Street, where, according to the police report, members of the Central Research Directorate (Dicrim) were preparing to arrest him.
The authorities indicated that Pineña was sought by two court orders for alleged links to several criminal acts, including armed robbery.
The police version states that, as the police officers were present, the man had shot them, for which reason they responded to the assault. After being injured, he was transferred to the Hospital Vinicio Calventi, where he died.
