Lima.- The South Korean band BTS, which is this week in Peru to offer three concerts, temporarily named a street in Lima, the Peruvian capital, while a monumental arch of the same city is illuminated by purple at night in honor of the presence of this popular k-pop ‘boyband’.
These two initiatives are part of the ‘BTS Week ’promoted by the Lime district of Surco around the Friendship Park, where the Peruvian‘ armys’ have come in mass to be photographed on the purple post of the temporarily called BTS and the Moorish Arc.
During this week, Sacramento Street, one of those around the Friendship Park, was renamed BTS Avenue as part of the ‘Road to 7’ project driven by the ‘army’, a name with which the legion of fans of this South Korean band is known.
In turn, the Moorish Arc, an exact replica of a donation made by Spain to Peru on the occasion of the centenary of its independence in 1921, is illuminated in these nights of an intense purple, the distinctive color of BTS, while in the same park a light show is planned in honor of the group.
BTS first arrived in Lima on Tuesday as part of its world tour ‘Arirang’, to offer three concerts on 7, 9 and 10 October at the Stadium of the National University Major of San Marcos, where more than 50,000 people are expected every night, many of them coming from other places in Peru and also from South America.
